Football's World Cup will be held this year. In view of the importance of this event and
of the sport it showcases, it's not surprising that PLAY-AWARD 2006 is devoting itself
exclusively to football. Competing for the hotly sought-after award's prizes will be young
designers from all over the world.
They have submitted innovations changing the way the 'world's favorite game' is played,
lived and loved. No other game in the world is played by so many people on so many
different kinds of fields. Accordingly, no other game shows such a universality of
appeal and a diversity of cultures of play.
The designers' innovations accentuate this university and this diversity by suggesting
changes to football's stadiums, their turfs and balls; the teams playing, the rules which
they observe and the fans watching.

The PLAY-AWARDs confer glamour and glory upon their winners. No wonder that the designers
were willing to undergo the agony and ecstasy of creation in coming up with their
toil-derived and joy-imparting innovations. While experiencing these emotions, the
designers were guided by the award's motto:
